Mafia The Game

During basic game play there are 2 teams and an Overseer. One team consists of Civilians and a Detective, have a yellow border and are considered good. The other team is the American Mafia, have a red border and are considered bad. The Overseer randomly hands one card to each player. Each person carefully checks their card without allowing anybody to see it. The Overseer announces that it is nighttime, which just means that all players must close their eyes. The Overseer then says, "Mafia, open your eyes. Point to one person you want to eliminate." Once the Mafia have agreed on a person to eliminate they close their eyes. After the Mafia have closed their eyes the Overseer says, "Detective open your eyes. Point to one person you want to know about." After the Detective has quietly pointed to one person, the Overseer will shake their head yes if that person is a Mafia or no if that person is a Civilian. Then the Detective will close their eyes. Next the Overseer announces it is daytime and who is dismissed.

During the daytime people are eliminated by a majority vote with the Civilians trying to vote Mafia members out and Mafia members trying to vote Civilians out without revealing their identity. After each daytime elimination another nighttime will happen, in which case the Mafia eliminate one more person and the Detective discovers the identity of one more player.

The 'Good guys' wins when all Mafia members are eliminated. The American Mafia wins when the amount of 'Bad Guys' equals or exceeds the amount of 'Good Guys.'

*You could play by your own rules with these cards and they would just reduce the confusion of player roles.
